Sometimes it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one in the world who’s struggling, who’s frustrated, or unsatisfied, or barely getting by. But that feelings a lie. And if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day and someone, or something, will find you and make it all okay. Because we all need a little help sometimes. Someone to help us hear the music in our world. To remind us that it won’t always be this way. That someone is out there, and that someone will find you.
Sometimes you need to be alone. Sometimes, you just don’t want to be comforted. Because you need the chance to take it in. All that has been, all the pain left behind. The best cure is time on your own to analyze, time to pull yourself together again and time to see that all you ever wanted is now nothing but a fading memory. Time to let it go, and time to start again.
I’ve learnt that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides. I’ve learnt that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. I’ve learnt that it’s a lot easier to react than it is to think. I’ve learnt that either you control your attitude or it controls you. I’ve learnt that maturity has more to do with the types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated. I’ve learnt that quantity is not as important as quality when it comes to best friends. I’ve learnt that it isn’t enough to be forgiven by others, sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself. I’ve learnt that no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world will not stop for your grief. I’ve learnt that background and circumstances might have influenced who you are, but we are responsible for who we become. I’ve learnt that you can’t make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be loved. I’ve learnt although the word “love” can have many meanings, it loses value when overly used. I’ve learnt that no matter how old or wise you think you are, life never stops teaching.
I guess that’s what saying good-bye is always like—like jumping off an edge. The worst part is making the choice to do it. Once you’re in the air, there’s nothing you can do but let go.
When you’re out there looking for that perfect person, keep these things in mind: People change, no matter how hard they try not to. As you grow older you mature, and with each new level of maturity come different ideas, different needs and wants. The person who was perfect for you at twenty could be the person you hate when you’re thirty-five. You have to find some one who will grow with you, change with you, laugh with you and cry with you. A person who fills in where you lack, a person whom you can fill in for when they are lacking. But what about the perfect person, you ask? They do not exist. There are no perfect people, only people who are perfect for each other. You deserve to be happy not in the arms of someone who keeps you waiting but in the arms of someone who will take you now.
It’s amazing what one person can do. Some people build you up just to bend & break you. Some people bring out parts of you that you had no clue existed. All throughout life we meet people & every single one of them brings something to us, gives us some sort of purpose. We come across people that will hurt us so incredibly much that it seems unbearable to go on with our lives, but the truth is; we can overcome anything we want to if we believe in it enough, if we have faith in ourselves, in who we are. The most important thing in life is to find yourself, know who you are at all times & stand by that for the rest of your life. No one has the right to tell you who you are or try & control your life cause it’s yours. Your life is meant to be lived by no one else but yourself. We sometimes let people get the best of us, destroy us & change our opinions on what we believe is true. Only you can know what’s right for yourself, you have the power, you make the choices & you learn. Each experience we go through in life is a lesson to be learned. We all make mistakes, why is that so hard for some to understand? No one should be judged by the mistakes they have made. It’s past news. Everything happens for a reason, & without the hard times, how would we ever realize our true strength? It’s only through a time of suffering when we realize how strong we truly are inside, when we realize how much we can actually put up with & deal with before we eventually break.
Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances, you just have to live life to the fullest, laugh as much as you can, spend all your money, tell someone what they mean to you, tell someone off, speak out, dare to be different, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone’s hand, comfort a friend, pig out, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, and smile till your face hurts. Don’t be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because when you look back someday, knowing you have no regrets is going to be what makes you smile.
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t mean security. You begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open; with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child. You learn to build up all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans. After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. You learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth.
Maybe your first love is the one that sticks with you because it’s the only person who will ever receive all of you. After that, you learn better. But, most of all, no matter what, a piece of you forever remains left behind in the heart of the one you loved - a piece no future lover could ever get, no matter what. That piece holds innocence, the belief that love really can last forever. It holds friendship and pain, trial and error, that one kiss you’ll never get back. It holds youth and everything you thought love would be, everything that was proven wrong.
